6th Batch Of B.Sc. Logistics Management Students Inaugurated Into The Shanghai Maritime University - Regional Maritime University

On the 18th of September, 2017, the 6th batch of B.Sc. Logistics Management students of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) were inaugurated into the Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), China, to continue their programme for one (1) year. These students are in their second year and will pursue the third year in Shanghai and finish up at RMU, Accra, Ghana.

This collaboration between RMU and SMU was entered into in 2010. Under this arrangement students pursuing the B.Sc. Logistics Programme opt for a third year at Shanghai from the onset. The fourth year is pursued at RMU and graduation is done at RMU jointly with SMU whose Management are always present for the graduation. So far 119 students have graduated from this programme. Alternatively, the option of pursuing the entire programme from year one to four at RMU still remains for other students.

In his inaugural address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Elvis Nyarko thanked the SMU delegation led by its Vice President Professor Wang Haiwei for their participation in the 11th Congregation of RMU held in June, 2017, which also marked the graduation of the fourth batch of Logistics Management students. The VC advised the 2017 batch of International Students from RMU to uphold the values of commitment and excellence, amongst others, in the pursuit of their studies and encouraged them to live up to the expectation of their parents, guardians and sponsors who have given them the opportunity to be enrolled on the programme. It was the hope of the VC that their stay at SMU would be academically rewarding and personally enjoyable because they had joined SMU, one of the largest, diverse, and dynamic maritime educational and training institutions in Asia where they will have at their disposal some of the most excellent academic facilities and resources. The students were advised to be law abiding, respect the rights, differences and dignity of others and also avoid associations that will distract them from achieving their educational purpose and become true ambassadors of their various institutions and countries. The VC wished the students the best and God’s blessings in their quest for excellence.
